This Elegant Tall Cut Glass Compote Gracefully Stands 9 3/4" High; the bowl part of it measures 5 3/4" Diameter by 3” High. This compote is of the American or Canadian Brilliant Period Cut Glass Era. The cutting is of geometric design consisting of hobstars and intersecting stars with the stem that is scalloped and zipper cut. The bottom stand is also cut.
It is not signed, however we believe it is from the Canadian factory of Clapperton and dates approximately 1905. It was found in Toronto, Ontario at a show exhibit. Clapperton worked for the Libbey factory in Toledo, Ohio prior to 1905, afterward set up shop in Desronto, Ontario.
COMMENT: This Majestic Little Jewel Stands Eloquently And Can Add That Special Accent To The Dessert Table Or Simply Add That Extra Sparkle To Your Brilliant Cut Glass Collection. Compotes are considered fairly scarce and are desirable forms for collectors.
CONDITION: EF condition! There is an extremely minor flake going upward on the interior of one of the teeth which is barely noticeable unless indicated. There is no bruising on any area of this piece. The blank has great clarity.
