This Gorgeous Heavy Lead Cut Crystal Decanter is of English origin and dates approximately 1880. It measures 12” High and has a 6" Diameter (at center). Although Victorian, it does have a very Late-Georgian flare in terms of its cutting and style being that of a triple ring neck with a draped pattern around its circumference. One must remember that the Late-Georgian Period overlapped the Early-Victorian Period in British History.
COMMENT: This Very Classical Decanter Most Definitely Has A Stately Presence and can Easily Compliment any Great Crystal Decanter Collection! It can casually set amid its relatives in your exquisite bar display for you and your friends to enjoy as you gladly boast its graceful beauty while pouring your friend his favorite drink, just so he can notice “What A Wonderful Decanter”!
CONDITION: Extra fine except for some minor interior cloudiness at the very bottom which can be polished. Such is the fate of many decanters over years of usage. There are no chips or cracks.
The key to preserving “clarity” of any crystal decanter is to not let alcohol set too long. Alcohol, if resting too long creates a chemical reaction with the lead content of the crystal and actually removes a layer of glass causing the “cloudy” effect. Alcohol should not set in a crystal decanter for more than several months at a time.
