This Wonderful Antique Japanese Export Blue & White Bowl measures 10” Diameter and has a Depth of 1 1/4". Research indicates that this bowl is of Japanese origin rather than Chinese. It was manufactured approximately 1860-1880.
It has great factory marks on the back; the marks are art work in themselves. It is totally hand painted underglaze with love and a naivety that was drawn from floral and fruit inspiration, as was most oriental porcelains of the time.
COMMENT: This is an absolutely fabulous example of Oriental hand painted Blue & White underglaze not to be used but rather to be displayed as a collector piece. The decoration is absolutely wonderful!
CONDITION: Great condition except for a minor 1 3/4” crack which is visible on the back extending from the outer rim inward. It really does not show unless closely inspected. Considering the quality and the age, the small hairline is considered minor. This little crack is illustrated in the second last photo. Therefore this Japanese porcelain plate is being offered to you in "as is" condition.
