HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL SILVER COMPANY:
The International Silver Company was organized under the laws of the State of New Jersey on November 19, 1898. Within the next year, seventeen companies were purchased. By the early 1900’s, it had become a large industrial corporation. Its operations centered at Meriden, Connecticut, would prove to be the major producer of silver products in the United States. Their phenomenal success eventually led them into the Ontario region of Canada during the Edwardian Period where they commenced to expand the company by major takeovers of such companies as Standard Silver Co., Oneida and eventually Wm. Henry Rogers of Hamilton Ontario. By the 1960’s, International Silver Company had become a household name amongst the affluent. It was not uncommon to find a flatware silver service, a tea and coffee set or vanity set bearing the marks of this company in fine jewelry stores throughout Ontario
CONDITION: This sterling brush & mirror set is in fine condition. The mirror has a little clouding.
GENERAL CONDITION OF VANITY SETS:
Note that with many of these antique and vintage silverplate and sterling vanity sets, the mirrors on many occasions have slight imperfections such as cloudiness and/or spotting. Sometimes the mirror is slightly loose in its frame. Generally there is always some minor denting and slight surface scratching which is referred to as wear on many of these sets when found, possibly resulting from being dropped on the floor by its user.
