Art Nouveau Antique Bronze Pipe Rest

This Art Nouveau Lady Antique Bronze Pipe Rest dates approximately 1890-1900 and is of European origin, possibly English or French. The pipe rest has an Art Nouveau lady figure in the center standing on a base which has a pipe rest on each side. The lady stands 5 1/2" High; the “base” section measures 6 1/2" Long by 2 1/2" Wide.

COMMENT: During the Art Nouveau Era it was very vogue for a gentleman to have such a novel smoking accessory in his library or smoking room. A good glass of sherry accompanied by a fine blend of tobacco would have been a distinguished way to end an evening of formal dining.

CONDITION: The pipe holder is missing a “rounded” section which holds the tip of the pipe. It has been severed. No photo of this damage is available at this time. We will upload a photo at a later date or upon request. Our apologies are extended for this oversight.

This wonderful little treasure can and should be professionally restored. Once restored, this will have escalated its value immensely. Upon pricing, we have taken this condition into consideration.  Therefore this item is being offered in "as is" condition.
