PARAGON BONE CHINA IN CANADA
In Canada, this particular china company is and has been held in high esteem over the years and was shipped literally by the tons to warehouses in Toronto, Montreal, New Brunswick, Winnipeg, etc. Dinner sets made by this company graced many a table throughout Canada as Sunday’s best whether it be a family gathering or a formal affair, it always had rave reviews either by family members or guests.
Paragon was always sold by the best of stores. Many fancy jewelry stores such as Birks and Mappins, just to name but a few, always had an allotted section to brag the fine china and glass from England. After all, Canada was once under British rule and its people had great admiration for British monarchy and great reverence for products of manufacture from England.
As we all know it was always the Kings & Queens of England who approved the manufacture of the many fine potteries and porcelains that were made in their country prior sale to the market, whether it be for the home market or for export. The testament to this fact, in this case, is written on back of this plate. It states: “By Appointment China Potteries To Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth”.
Of course, over the years dinner sets got divided by family members. Consequently this plate is a loner and may have been purchased as a single plate to decorate the china cabinet because of its beauty. After all, many sets when sold at the time were sold as open sets.
So if you like me, do not let me be alone! Take me home, put me in your china cabinet with your other china friends and enjoy me. You can enjoy looking at me or you may use me for that fancy little pastry when you serve your friends an afternoon tea. I’m guaranteed to please.
CONDITION: Excellent! There is no rubbing of the gold gilding, no fork or knife scratches, no chips, no staining and no restoration.
