This particular branch of the Ridgways potteries began in 1955. "Royal Vale" was one of the trade marks for this pottery at that time. This attractive cup & shell shaped under tray is partially transfer print and hand painted with vibrant buttercup yellow, relaxing blue and green. It is executed on a very durable bone china body.
These little sets are commonly referred to under several names: (a) breakfast sets, (b) tea & toast sets or (c) sandwich sets.
All three references are used interchangeably and are acceptable descriptions for such shape cup and under trays.
COMMENT: Such soft and soothing colors of yellow, blue and green just make you want to curl up in your favorite armchair and read that little novel of fantasy you have been delaying for some time as you restfully comfort yourself with a little bedtime snack and a little light hearted reading before retiring to your bedside.
On the other hand, it may alert your vitality of having a little tea and toast on the sun porch on a beautiful sunny spring or summer morning as you overlook the lake from your little cottage in the countryside as you contemplate the days events.
CONDITION: Excellent! There is absolutely no wear to the decoration, no cracks, no staining nor chipping.
