BRIEF HISTORY OF THE ARTS & CRAFTS MOVEMENT

The Arts & Crafts Movement was a British and American aesthetic movement that occurred the latter part of the 19th century and early part of the 20th century. It was at its zenith from 1880-1910.

It was a reformist movement that influenced British and American architecture, decorative arts, furniture making, crafts, glass, jewelry, pottery, etc.

Some of its renowned practitioners were William Morris, Walter Christopher Dresser, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Gustav Stickley; this is just to name some of the more eminent proponents of the style and movement.

In USA, the terms Arts & Crafts MovementAmerican Craftsman or Craftsman Style are often used to denote the style of architecture, interior design, and decorative arts that prevailed between  the dominant eras of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, or roughly the period from 1910-1925.

Such subjects as Arts & Crafts and Mission could easily take days of reading, researching and writing of which I am sure you are well aware.
