CORO VINTAGE CHOKER BRACELET AND CLIP-ON EARRINGS SET

This Quaint Costume Jewelry Parue Set  (Choker, Bracelet and Earrings) is signed CORO and was manufactured approximately 1960-1970. All 3 pieces are signed. It is a feather design with white enamel on a silver tone base metal. The Choker measures 16” Length; the Bracelet measures 8” Length and the Earrings measure 1 1/4" Length by 3/4” Width. As we approach the back section of the choker, there is a series of little white milk glass beads as to give extra length to the choker.

COMMENT: This is truly a lovely vintage 1960s set! For an elegant flair and light feel, this set can easily accommodate.

CONDITION: The entire set is in fine condition. There is some minimal wear at a few high points of the floral design that is not really visible, only upon very close inspection.

HISTORY OF CORO JEWELRY COMPANY

The Coro Jewelry Company was founded in New York by Emanuel Cohn & Carl Rosenberger in 1901-1902 and was incorporated in 1913. A factory was established in Providence, Rhode Island in 1911. With offices or plants in New York & Providence; at times they had a presence in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Toronto, England and Mexico. Great Britain mechanical patents have been found in the name of Corocraft from 1961-1969, which documents actual production in England.

Cohn died in 1910, but the name remained Cohn & Rosenberger. The corporate name "Coro" was adopted in 1943. Rosenberger died in 1957, & his son Gerald, who succeeded him, died in 1967.

In 1969 the family sold 51% of the Coro stock to Richton, Intl. Corp., who bought the remaining stock in 1970.  Richton also owned the Oscar de la Renta brand.  By 1979 all the Coro companies, except the Canadian company, were bankrupt. It was sold to a South American company & also went bankrupt.
