AMERICAN VINTAGE ROYAL RUBY EPERGNE WITH FLORAL HOLDER

This Epergne is composed of three parts: (1) The upper epergne “v” shape holder, (2) fluted ruby red bowl, and (3) the scroll metal floral holder.

When assembled, it measures 18 1/2" High. At the Base, it measures 12” Wide; the Vase section measures 11 1/2" High; the Fluted Bowl measures 8 1/2" Diameter.

The Royal Ruby Ruffled Bowl is definitely from the Anchor Hocking Glass Company. It would fall under the category of "Depression Glass". The color is referred to as "Royal Ruby" and was manufactured circa 1930-1940. The anchor Hocking Museum has a 14" bowl exactly like this one, the difference is that this one measures 8 1/2" Diameter. The museum considers their bowl to be in the "rarity" category.

The metal section is hand forged with a grape leaf design. The fluted bowl which sits at the bottom is ruby red glass. The “v” shape piece at the top is ruby flash and could be of a more current vintage and was possibly a replacement. The vase does have a little scratch to the side which is not terribly noticeable when turned to the wall. We suspect that this piece was a decorator's inspiration and is a possible composition therefore we have priced it accordingly.

COMMENT: This Epergne would make an attractive piece for a floral arrangement at the top and a candy arrangement at the bottom. It does have a Dramatic Presence that would look good as a decorator piece that may be placed on a Fire Place Mantle or may simply set on a Hall Entrance Table.

CONDITION: This ruby red epergne is in very fine condition except for a little surface scratch to the “v” section as is illustrated in the photo.
