Very charming for a breakfast tray!

MANUFACTURER:
Hammersley China Company. Renowned for their tasteful hand painting, they became very popular for their roses as a main subject that was applied on everything from the dainty sugar & creamer sets to tea services and other dinnerware. Colors were bold and beautiful and never ceased to amaze the buyer. Hammersley China Company quickly became a favorite amongst Canadians from the late Thirties to the early 1960s. It was associated with quality and is avidly collected amongst the more affluent Canadian. If you wanted color for the china cabinet, this was it.

HAMMERSLEY CHINA COMPANY HISTORY This pottery was begun in 1870 by Titus Hammersley and Edward Asbury began under the name of Hammersley and Asbury and continued as such until Titus died in 1875. The former had also a partnership in the firm of Harvey Adams and Co., china manufacturers of Longton, which operated from 1870-1885, but on his death his eldest son, George, took over the direction of the business, and acquired the Harvey Adams concern, changing the name and combining both under the title they use today. From thence onward the history of the firm is of Hammersley succeeding Hammersley until we come to the present Directors, Eric and Leslie Hammersley who are upholding the prestige of the Alsager Pottery, continuing to carry on the tradition of fine workmanship which has been the firm's ambition for the last hundred years – a tradition which has earned the business a wide reputation both in the home and overseas markets.
