CHESTER ANTIQUE STERLING SILVER BRUSH AND MIRROR VANITY SET

This Heirloom English Antique Sterling Silver Vanity Set was manufactured in Chester, England and dates 1919. It has wonderful assay and hallmarks that are clearly stamped on the brush and mirror. Hall Marked & Initialed ''W''; Mirror: 10 3/4'' Length by 5 1/2'' Diameter; Brush: 10 1/4" Length, Circa 1919. Both pieces have an elaborate scrolled design on the exterior edge. The mirror is bevelled. Each piece is elaborately monogrammed with the initials of the original owner.

COMMENT: You Too Can Play A Role Like Scarlet O’Hara In "Gone With The Wind"! Imagine yourself sitting at your vanity table combing your hair, fixing your makeup, propping your hat and checking out your evening gown as you await your debonair date for an evening of romance to follow.

Such Sterling Silver Vanity Sets were very apropos for ladies of gentry during the turn of the century into the roaring twenties. Today they are symbolic of class and luxury simply by being an accessory on the vanity table.  

CONDITION: This sterling silver vanity set is in fine condition with some minor denting and surface scratching which is considered patina, by some collectors, and is acceptable for pieces of this vintage and usage.  In addition the mirror is slightly cloudy.

Note that with many of these antique and vintage silverplate and sterling vanity sets, the mirrors on many occasions have slight imperfections such as cloudiness and/or spotting. Sometimes the mirror is slightly loose in its frame. Generally there is always some minor denting and slight surface scratching which is referred to as wear on many of these sets when found, possibly resulting from being dropped on the floor by its user.
