This Elegant Antique Covered Blown Glass Covered Compote is possibly from the Heisey Glass Company, Newark, Ohio, USA. The compote measures 9” High by 7” Wide and dates approximately 1896-1901.
It has a beautifully blown ball finial “crystal-like” in appearance on the cover with a feathery leaf etched design; the bottom part of the compote has a flanged rim with a repeated feathery leaf etched design as well as a repeated “crystal-like” blown ball pedestal. Each ball measures about 1 1/2" diameter.
COMMENT: This Glass Compote Exudes Sheer Eloquence And Is Reminiscent of Fine Dinning of The Victorian Era! This is Truly A Charming Piece of Etched Glass and A “Must" For Any Glass Collector!
Covered glass compotes always make a lovely item to display in a china cabinet. In addition, they can grace any dining room table for any festive or formal event. Such an attractive piece of antique glass can also make a beautiful wedding gift.
From research of various glass pieces, we are led to believe that this beautiful glass compote is quite possibly of Heisey manufacture. As we already know, Heisey Glass is renowned for its clarity and crystal-like appearance of their blanks. Not all Heisey pieces were signed.
CONDITION: Great condition with very minor ware which is to be expected of glass of this vintage, no chips, no cracks and no stains.
