This Pair of Semi-Porcelain Plates was manufactured by the Salem Pottery Company, Ohio, USA approximately 1945 and measure 10 3/4" Diameter.
They are partial Transfer Print with dashes of hand painting overglaze. The Central Spray of Pink & Yellow Roses is accentuated by a lavish wide band of cobalt blue (on the border) with ornately applied 23 Kt. Gold gilded scroll work.
COMMENT: Originally these plates were part of a dinner set, however today many people use them simply as decorative. Because of the lavish gold gilding and cobalt, they may be used as accent pieces in a china cabinet or simply as a nice pair of plates to be placed upon a little sideboard or occasional table.
CONDITION: They are in very good condition with very minimal wear to the gold gilding which is barely noticeable. The central floral scene has very little fading. Overall condition is very good. One plate has slight facial staining which is slightly visible, on close-up, but not a deterrent.
