It is a beautiful representation of English china and adheres to England's reputation world-wide for its bone china production for well over a hundred years. Each piece of this English fine bone china vintage sugar and creamer set has hand-painted petite pink roses in a garden of apple-green with a fence in two medallions of each piece. Two alternating medallion variants are depicted on both the sugar and creamer. Variants of trademarks changed every ten years or so. Not all trademarks are located for this firm in Godden's marks on this page. Mark #543 located on page 96 of The ENCYCLOPEDIA OF BRITISH POTTERY AND PORCELAIN MARKS by GEOFFREY A. GODDEN, F.R.S.A. COMMENT: The lovely apple green medallions on both the sugar and creamer pronounce the daintiness of the beautiful petite hand-painted roses in each medallion and make this vintage bone china sugar and creamer set a winner.
MANUFACTURER: E. Brain & Co., Ltd.
The trademark for the company of E. Brain & Company was Foley. The company was known as the Foley China Works, Fenton. Staffordshire Potteries. It began 1903 and ran until 1963 at which time Coalport took over the works.
