CLAPPERTON BRILLIANT CUT GLASS MAYONNAISE BOWL

This Fabulous Brilliant Period Cut Glass Mayonnaise Bowl, although unsigned is Clapperton of Desoronto, Ontario and dates circa 1905. It measures 9 3/4" Diameter by 2 3/4” Depth or Height. It has a 20 point hobstar bottom with overlapping gothic arches. The wider arches contain 16 point hobstars at each end; whereas the narrower arches contain strawberry diamond cutting with a touch of Harvard and cross banding with fan motif toward the apex of the arches. This bowl has a very attractive outward fluting.

COMMENT: Again, A Little Dazzler! Makes A Very Attractive Collection Piece Or A Classy Wedding Gift! Indeed A Very Attractive Brilliant Cut Glass Bowl! Great Cutting and Clarity of Blank!

All the indicators lead us to believe that this piece is from the Clapperton factory. Again this piece was purchased in the Desoronto area of Ontario where Clapperton had his glass factory which would indicate that this piece is possibly from his factory. It looks and feels “Clapperton”.
