This Classical Staffordshire Dessert Dish dates approximately 1830-1840. It measures 8 3/4" Square by 1 1/4" Depth. This absolutely gorgeous dessert dish has an exquisitely hand painted multi colored floral center framed by a beautifully embossed floral and fluted border which has lavish 24Kt. gold gilded lines at each corner as well as gilding which outlines the floral center and edge. The center is a pallet combination of dark blue, light blue, yellow, green and pink floral colors.
The dessert dish carries pattern # 547 which possibly indicates the painter’s number or the pattern number for the factory of manufacture. This dish is possibly from the early unmarked Ridgway or Davenport factories.
COMMENT: This fine example of English hand painting on porcelain depicts the zenith quality of the painters of the Late Georgian to the Early Victorian Period. The porcelain body of this piece has a very rich creamy texture. The ornately embossed border most certainly enhances the wonderful floral center. I am sure it can compliment or enhance any china cabinet of Fine Early English Porcelains. On the other hand, it can make an absolutely tasteful gift for any occasion or just a great collector piece.
CONDITION: There has been some restoration to the bottom left hand corner. The restoration is a small crack that has been professionally sprayed and re-gilded. The restoration is barely noticeable and has been very well executed. The beauty of this piece most certainly outweighs the minor and nearly undetectable damage. Consequently we are offering this Antique English Dessert Porcelain Dish in "as is" condition.
