This Exquisite Porcelain Double Handle Open Sugar Bowl, we believe to be of the Limoges district in France and dates approximately 1915. The sugar bowl is lavishly hand painted and has applied 24 Kt. gold gilded edge and handles. With soft hues of blue and pale yellow, the petite apple blossoms are well executed. The lip of the sugar bowl has pedal shape scalloping. It measures 4" Height by 5" Diameter (handle to handle). It is not stamped Limoges but is a blank that was handpainted.
COMMENT: Such an elegant piece of porcelain can easily grace ones Limoges Collection! Such exquisite mold work and hand painting are typical of the Limoges porcelains that were produced during the Art Nouveau Period.
Many blanks were exported for hand painting and were not always marked…such is the case with this piece.
