HISTORY OF LIMOGES PORCELAIN Limoges Always States Quality and is World Renowned for Its Fabulous Hand Painting and Exquisite Irregular Shapes!
Some of the world’s best porcelain painters are employed by the Limoges factories of France. There are over forty factories in the Limoges District of France that produced extremely high grade porcelains from the Art Nouveau Period, being from the 1880’s up to the 1920’s, which was the zenith of hand painting for these factories. Some of the Limoges factories are still in business today.
However as with everything, the quality and workmanship will never surpass those from days gone bye, due to the cost of labor, exquisite painters and other ingredients that go into the production of fine quality porcelains. This is why prices are soaring at an alarming paste for the antique pieces that are so lavishly and exquisitely hand painted by some of the world’s best artists of the time. Consequently the demand for the extravagant is very alive and in full speed.
