This Great French Faience Plate Measures 10 1/4" Diameter and was made by The Famous St. Clement Factory of France approximately 1920-1940.
The pattern is known as “Pea-Fowl”. The St. Clement factory of France is well known for their faience and majolica wares. St. Clement factory is comparable with Henriot Quimper and the Sarreguemines factories of France. They all have been producing high quality pottery of faiences well over a century. Of course this is completely hand painted underglaze. The glaze is of impeccable quality and has a very glossy effect.
COMMENT: This is very French Country and works well with antique pine and rustic settings!
St. Clement pottery is held in very high esteem by the French in France as well as the French of Quebec, Canada, and is collected avidly.
The plate is definitely well executed and has a delicate flavor; because of this fact, it can fit into a formal setting. It has a terrific ground color. It is an absolutely handsome plate and would fit well into your faience collection!
