CANADIANA COUNTRY STYLE ANTIQUE PINE CUPBOARD [SOLD]
This absolutely charming hand built Canadiana pine cupboard or cubbard (17th. century old English spelling) was made circa 1870-1880. It was found here in the Toronto, Ontario region.

This genuine antique hand built pine cupboard (cubbard) is a wonderful collector piece of Canadiana furniture. It has all of its original paint and expected wear (patina) at proper expected locations, namely the front (drawers and doors), top and sides. It is a genuine antique and is not a reproduction! It has two equal size drawers with carved floral design and original glass knobs. Beneath the top two drawers we find two equal size panel doors with carved Fleur-de-lis design. All brass hardware and latches inside and outside are original. When the two doors are opened, two interior non-movable original shelves are exposed. Each side column, on the outside, has double reeding. It has scrolled front work at the bottom. The top and sides are plank pine. The back is also plank pine.
COMMENT: Originality at its best! For country charm and charisma, in its original form with its original patina, this primitive pine cupboard is a real treasure and a great fine. As a great decorative, this antique cupboard can truly be a punctuating piece to remind us of our ancestors and a reflection into the past of how they lived and made furniture for themselves for daily use in their old country homes.
FURNITURE COMPANY & HISTORY: Canadian. Maker unknown. Some attribution could be possibly made should one wish to enhance his or her reading on Canadian furniture. There are many books on the subject.

CONDITION: Great original patina! All hardware is original. There are no repairs or restorations. What you see is what you get. Note that the true color is the darker version. The top two photos appear much lighter brown, this was caused by very bright sunlight while picture was taken.
