COMMENT: These tall chests always had a clothes closet and side mirror to the left with five drawers to the right. These chests were extremely popular from the 1930s-1940s. They were great space savers for smaller dwellings and are once again very vogue amongst small condo owners and small studio apartment dwellers. They are a great option to the large wardrobe or armoire (French derivative) that was so popular for larger homes of the early Victorian era up to the late art Deco era. If one is conservative about space, this kind of chest is ideal and is also a very decorative piece of bedroom furniture.

DESCRIPTION: This piece of furniture has a total of five drawers and a clothes closet to the left with a door and exterior beveled mirror which is held in place by four Bakelite mirror holders. The interior of the clothes closet section is completely cedar lined. The top drawer is the smallest which is always the case for this specific piece of bedroom furniture. It measures 7" deep (top to bottom). The other dimensions are the same as the bottom four drawers. Four of the five drawers are 9.50" deep (top to bottom of each drawer) by 18" length (left to right) and are 15" width (interior front to back of each drawer).

FURNITURE COMPANY & HISTORY: It was manufactured by the Princeville Chair Company, Ltd., Princeville, Quebec and was distributed by Believe Furniture Company, 366 College St., Toronto, Ontario.

We acquired the whole bedroom set. The only piece with a paper signature was the bed. A photo of this paper label will be included for your reference.
