CHINESE MING BLUE CONTEMPORARY PORCELAIN TABLE LAMP [SOLD]
This Wonderful Chinese Ming Blue Table Lamp is well executed with an underglaze hand painted peony basket and lotus blossom design upon a perforated porcelain body.

There are four panels of decoration. Two opposite panels are decorated with the "Peony Basket" and the other two opposite panels are decorated with the "Lotus design". It is accompanied with a paneled custom-made shade that has a border of blue at the top and bottom edges.
This great quality Chinese porcelain table lamp is lovely ''blue and white'' hand painted design underglaze. Although this lamp is not antique "blue and white", it still carries the air of quality workmanship at a fraction of the cost of an antique one of same design.
For many centuries the Chinese have been famous for such fine detail and hand painting upon porcelain. They were the forefathers of blue painted wares of which other European countries like England and Holland (Netherlands) later copied. The original secret lay with the Chinese of how to produce such wares and how to decorate them. When merchants went from Europe to the Orient they tried to find out the chemical and clay ingredients of the Chinese porcelain. Hence upon return to Europe about 1650s, they tried to reproduce such wares.
