8 1/4" Diameter Vintage Commemorative Plate Circa 1953
COMMENT: Although unmarked, from research we found that Homer Laughlin China Co., of Ohio produced such pieces that were used in the dining cars of the trains in the United States in the Fifties.
NOTE OF INTEREST: Dwight David Eisenhower was born 1890 and died 1969; he was U.S. General and 34th president of the United States from 1953-1961. He was commander of Allied forces in Europe from 1943-1945 and again from 1951-1952. Mami, of course was first lady and wife of President Eisenhower.
A great little piece of Americana! Makes a great gift for your history teacher!
CONDITION: There is very little skipping of the transferware (when the print was applied to the plate) to the left of Mami's hair. Other than this, the plate is in great condition.
